Are Students Ready For College?

What in the world is happening in this school district? It is unbelievable how the Rochester City School District is being compared to the Buffalo and Syracuse and other School Districts. Also the stupid information such as how the information about students being prepared for college is based on scores! What?!

"A study presented to the New York State Board of Regents on Monday looked at the percentage of high school students scoring at least a 75 in English and an 80 in math on the state's Regents — a much higher threshold than is required to earn a diploma," Democrat and Chronicle.

Are you serious? Some people who are bad at scoring high on exams do really well on their work in class. How is it that you have to score high just to be ready for college?

Another aspect that is focused on concerning high school graduation rates would be race. 5% of African Americans, 7% of Hispanic, 10% of American Indian, 20% of White Americans, and 31% of Asian students are the statistics for graduation. (Statistics from the New York State Education Department)

Since when did your race control your brain and education? It has nothing to do with your scores and your ability to pass exams. Each student has an equal opportunity for education, regardless of your race.

  1. That's right! Racial statistics are so ridiculous. It just makes you feel like you can't succeed if you're not asian/caucasian etc.
